Getting a smile you love is an exciting adventure, and sometimes we need a few extra "sidekicks" to help your teeth and jaw move into the perfect position! At Abdoney Orthodontics, we use cutting-edge technology like the iTero™ scanner and a variety of treatment options to make sure your results are precise and long-lasting. Here is a look at some of the cool tools we might use during your journey!
Forsus Appliance
The Forsus appliance is a real powerhouse for overbites! It uses a small, comfortable spring attached to your braces to help guide your jaw forward. It works around the clock, so you don't have to worry about taking it in or out!
Herbst Appliance
For more serious overbites, we love the Herbst appliance. It’s a fantastic alternative to orthognathic surgery! This tool helps guide lower jaw growth and is great for both teens and adults. It’s all about creating a stable, healthy bite that lasts a lifetime.
Elastics
You might know these as rubber bands! We use these tiny, stretchy loops to connect different teeth. They provide the gentle, constant pressure needed to make sure your top and bottom teeth fit together like a perfect puzzle.

We had an excellent experience with ABDONEY Orthodontics. My daughter underwent treatment that included expanders followed by Invisalign to correct her bite, and the entire process was smooth and successful from start to finish. One thing that truly stood out was how well the office was run. Every appointment was on time, and we never had to sit and wait. The doctors and staff were always friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and willing to answer any questions we had. Most importantly, they created such a positive and welcoming environment that my daughter never felt anxious or fearful about her orthodontic appointments. She was always comfortable and at ease, which made a huge difference throughout her treatment. We are very pleased with the results and highly recommend ABDONEY Orthodontics to any family looking for exceptional orthodontic care.
My experience with Abdoney Orthodontics (South Tampa office) was a very pleasant one. When I arrived I was greeted immediately by the friendly staff and did not have to wait long to be called for my appointment. They are attentive and very personable. I recommend this practice for anyone looking for top of the line quality care.
I was extremely pleases with the orthodontic care that both of my children received from Abdoney Orthodontics. Their attention to detail, ease of contact and Scheduling, and caring staff and Drs made these past couple years very enjoyable. Their team makes you feel more than just a patient or a chart. Everything is very transparent so you know what you are being billed and charged and if you have any questions they take the time to explain anything to you. This is not only a top-notch orthodontic practice, but a very well run company that feels like a small town business. I have one more child that will need braces and we will surely come back.
Absolutely love Abdoney orthodontics. My daughter is in her second set of braces with them and my son just finished Invisalign. Would highly recommend to anyone, such sweet staff and very caring dr that take their time to get the smile right.
We are so proud that we found Abdoney's Orthodontics several years ago our oldest daughter and now our youngest daughter had been experienced a wonderful professional job and a excellent customer service!Good job, highly recommended!

Palatal Expander
We usually use expanders for our younger friends. This appliance gently widens the upper jaw to create more room for permanent teeth to grow in. It’s a key part of our Phase I treatment to prevent crowding before it starts!
Facemask
This sounds a bit intense, but it’s actually a very strategic tool for underbites! By wearing a facemask (usually just at home or while sleeping), we can help move the upper jaw forward. Catching this before age 9 is a great way to avoid orthognathic surgery later on.
TPA and Lingual Arch
Think of these as "space savers."
- The TPA appliance runs across the roof of your mouth to keep your teeth from shifting after using an expander.
- The Lingual Arch does the same thing for your lower teeth!
Both are excellent for holding the right amount of space if a baby tooth falls out a little too early.
Fixed Retainer
You’ve worked hard for that smile, so let’s keep it! A fixed retainer is a thin, custom wire bonded to the back of your teeth. It’s totally invisible to your friends, and it’s there to make sure your teeth stay exactly where they belong. We often pair these with Vivera™ retainers for proven results.
