With Fall just starting, it means that Halloween is just around the corner. It is an exciting time of year for many of us. Those of us with braces might be a little more reluctant. Having braces means having to navigate your way through which candies are safe for the brackets and wires. There are a lot of candy out there that seems alright with your braces, but they are a real trick. There are some real treats mixed in. Even the treats have some tricky consequences if they are not eaten in moderation. Eating to much candy can cause decalcification, cavities and/or gingivitis. Orthodontists recommend brushing and flossing after eating candy. Make sure to brush around the brackets very carefully, as buildups happen quickly. Brush along your gum line and swish some water around your mouth to help ensure you maintain your oral health.

Sour and fruity candy are the worst for your teeth. They are highly acidic and they break down the enamel on your teeth. Enamel helps protect your teeth from cavities and helps slow down tooth decay. There is a sugar substitute called xylitol that is not as harmful to your teeth as hard or chewy candy. It is important to note that sugar is not the only thing that causes tooth decay. Things happen and life happens. If damage occurs to your braces, make sure you reach out to your orthodontist's office to set up an appointment.

We had an excellent experience with ABDONEY Orthodontics. My daughter underwent treatment that included expanders followed by Invisalign to correct her bite, and the entire process was smooth and successful from start to finish. One thing that truly stood out was how well the office was run. Every appointment was on time, and we never had to sit and wait. The doctors and staff were always friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and willing to answer any questions we had. Most importantly, they created such a positive and welcoming environment that my daughter never felt anxious or fearful about her orthodontic appointments. She was always comfortable and at ease, which made a huge difference throughout her treatment. We are very pleased with the results and highly recommend ABDONEY Orthodontics to any family looking for exceptional orthodontic care.

Abdoney Orthodontics is amazing. I transferred from a Smile office in Navarre to here in Wesley Chapel and even though they are 3 hours from where I live, they have accommodated me from the moment I needed to transfer. The staff is kind and knowledgeable and are always happy and helpful. The Drs are wonderful with new patients and make ya feel right at home. I definitely recommend them to anyone who needs orthodontist services young and older. I am almost 60 and just got my braces off today and my Smile has never been better! Thank you all for the kind was and caring! Bree
